In the Science Department, we follow the 6E method – Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate, and Extend. This method provides a comprehensive framework for learning science by involving students in activities that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving. We believe that science should be an interactive and immersive experience. Our approach not only builds a solid foundation in scientific principles but also fosters a deep appreciation for the wonders of the natural world.

The term engage refers to the process of capturing and maintaining the interest and attention of learners. It’s a crucial step in effective teaching and learning. Engaging learners helps create a positive and productive learning environment and can lead to better retention and understanding of the material. Here in DiYES, students to actively participate in the learning process. This can involve hands-on activities, discussions, group work, and problem-solving exercises that require them to apply what they’ve learned.

2. Explore

The “Explore” phase in the 6’E framework is the second stage of the instructional process. During this phase, students are encouraged to investigate, examine, and delve deeper into the topic or concept introduced in the “Engage” phase. It’s a hands-on, inquiry-based approach to learning that promotes active exploration and discovery.

3. Explain

In this phase, students participate in seminars and discussions to clarify and expand upon what they’ve discovered during the “Explore” phase. This stage encourages them to share their insights, ask questions, and deepen their understanding through peer interaction and discussion. It’s a crucial step in solidifying their knowledge and honing their communication skills, preparing them for the subsequent phases of the instructional process.
